- Three of the new doctors honoris causa have transformed realities through research, teaching and university extension, nationally and internationally.
- The degree was conferred upon Frida Díaz Barriga, Carlos Gabriel Gómez Restrepo, Carmelita I. Quebengco, María Dolores Morales Pérez, Lucia Tazzer De Schrijver and Robert Schieler.

In the framework of the 60th anniversary of Universidad La Salle, the Honorary Doctorate Conferment Ceremony was held, which recognized the professional career and personal background and the exceptional impact of six personalities who have excelled in the promotion and development of moral, cultural or civic values in the field of education and that permeate in a benefit for humanity.
During the ceremony ,held in hybrid modality from the Adrian Gibert Auditorium in the Condesa Campus of the University, and broadcasted to different countries in the five continents, the impact of inspiring students from teaching, the creation of knowledge from research, and the transformation of realities from university extension was recognized.
The event was led by Dr. Robert Schieler, fsc, Superior General of the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools; Pedro Álvarez Arenas, fsc, Chairman of the Board of Governors of Universidad La Salle Mexico and Visitor of the District of Antilles South-Mexico; and José Francisco Gómez Gamio, fsc, President of Universidad La Salle Mexico.
Universidad La Salle thus offered its gratitude and recognition to the women and men who, from faith, fraternity and service, have dedicated their lives to chart horizons, to form from humanism, to inspire, create and transform knowledge and people, lives and societies.
The six new Honorary Doctors are:
- Dr. Frida Díaz Barriga Arceo (México), for her contribution to the strengthening of university education through curricular methodology, basis of the profile and professional career; in addition to her outstanding career as a researcher and disseminator in the areas of teaching, educational design, and information and communication technologies.
- Dr. Carlos Gómez Restrepo, fsc (Colombia), for his adherence and commitment to the Lasallian educational mission; for his animation of various educational institutions and of the International Association of La Salle Universities; for his leadership in the Latin American Regional Educational Project and for his actions to promote peace through the reconstruction of the social fabric
- Dra. Ma. Dolores Morales Pérez (México), for a lifetime of commitment to the Native peoples, the preservation of indigenous languages and rural development, through the integral and integrative educational trend, a higher education model that promotes meaningful learning based on the multicultural and multilingual nature of the Mexican nation. Because her model seeks the permanence of individuals in their place of origin, to promote through education, the dignity of the indigenous peoples.
- Dra. Carmelita I. Quebengco (Filipinas), for her adherence and commitment to the work of De La Salle, the arts, transformative learning and quality academic formation; together with her educational projects and tireless work on behalf of persons with disabilities and indigenous communities. She is also testimony to the leadership role of lay persons and women in the Lasallian educational mission.
- Dr. Lucio Tazzer De Schrijver, fsc (México), for his adherence and commitment to the Lasallian educational mission, since his youth, as a teacher of many generations. For the visionary animation of various educational institutions and as a promoter of the national and international linkage of the Mission with the educational, business, social and governmental sectors. Furthermore, with his deep humanistic-Christian sense, he promoted the development of bioethics by founding the Mexican Academy of Bioethics.
- Dr. Robert Schieler, fsc, (Estados Unidos), for his consecration to education based on the charism of St. John Baptiste De La Salle. With his unquestionable leadership, he has guided and accompanied educational institutions during times of global uncertainty. For his missionary work. As Superior General, he has promoted reflection on the identity, vitality and relevance of Lasallian works in the 21st Century, in addition to various initiatives of solidarity and cooperation to build a more equal and just world.
During the investiture, the Honoris Causa medal, a hood, a mortarboard and a diploma were presented. Five of the awardees received the recognition from the hands of the President and the members of the Board of Governors of Universidad La Salle Mexico; simultaneously, Dr. Quebengco was invested by President Bernard S. Oca, fsc, from De La Salle University in Manila, Philippines.
In his speech to the awardees and the community in general, Br. José Francisco Flores Gamio explained that each of the people who were awarded with the Honorary Doctorate degree represents one of the decades of uninterrupted work of our institution (…) we recognize those who have been generators, researchers, promoters and transferors of knowledge from their land of origin to the international level, who have shared to make a difference that impacts society.”
These personalities join the select group of the College of Honorary Doctors of the institution, which is currently made up of 13 members who since 1996 have been conferred this position.
